Big and slow H&R single came out with the 500 S&W in there single, would you concider it if marlin made it in there lever gun?
I definately would keep it in mind would be neat! Lots of power and will give the 45/70 Lbs a run in energy if loaded hot.

Heck I may even order the Handi rifle for now.

On chambering the Marlin 1895 action - what kind of pressures are we looking at? If we're looking at more than 43 k CUP or 40 K PSI - no thanks.

I'm with most of you here with a preference for the 45-70 but the 500 could be built on a much smaller 1894 type action. I believe WWG out of Alaska was doing something like this but I couldn't find it on their website. Pressure would be a concern though!
