I grease some of my guns. If the action is too tight, like my Targetmaster 1911, it'll cause malfunctions even when used sparingly.
Grease for sliding contact, oil for rotating contact. I use grease on all my semi-auto pistols where the slide rides on the frame. The key is to use it sparingly, you only need very small dabs to provide enough lube.

Froglube has been proven to be coconut oil with mint scents added to it. Google it.Where are the Frog Lube aficionados? Not so good in the cold, but good most of the year...
