If I am in the wrong place can you please direct me where to ask?

I want to ask what the value of a
100 percent Mint AR-15 A2 Sporter in 223 cal. It's by colt Firearm division Hartford Conn. Bought new at least 25 or thirty years ago now.
Its got the heavy Barrel.
It has shot maybe a dozen boxes of military loads. Its Perfect!
It also has a scope and stock extension for your cheek.

My brother asked me to ask as he may stop by here to sell it.

Thanks!

You'll find several threads on here lately discussing terms like mint, new, new in the box, like new and "broken in". Post some pics and let them speak for the gun. You'll surely get some push back if you talk about a 25 to 30 year old rifle with only a few hundred rounds for sale as "mint". Pics say way more and add to credibility.

Old Colt AR15s with fixed carry handles and heavy barrels are still fairly common. They're also dust collectors for good reason. They're excessively heavy for their purpose, outdated and can only be shot at the range. A couple years ago you might've got $1200 for it with all the trimmings, but today, if the rifle was unfired, you might get $1000. That said, being as it's used (doesn't matter how you cut it), $800 tops in today's market. You could try sitting on it at $900, but I doubt it'll move.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes it is one dust collector. Been sitting in the safe for so long.
Who needs a gun that's only good for the range. I will forward the info to my brother. He was telling me he was thinking of cutting it up with a hacksaw and dropping it off at the RCMP station.

Oh FFS give it to someone who wants it if he doesn't want to sell it. Why anyone would just give a gun over for destruction like that is beyond me. Hell donate it to a store with a range even to get others into the sport of shooting. They can use it as a range gun. Anything but destroy it. Kills me.

I'd gladly take it if I had the budget to buy another one. You can find someone to buy it no problem.

Just list it on the EE starting at $1000 and see what happens. There are still people that can shoot more than 50 yards with iron sights, I'm sure it will sell.
