I've have benn hunting for 3 years now but ive never had my chance to shoot a whitetail until this year but what i'm trying to say it would it be better to set up an tree stand to bag that trophy but or a ground blind? (for mostly white-tials)

Treestand , 15-20 ft from base of the stand to the ground, depending on topography. The key is to do your ground work,ie find a good spot. South south/east of active area(scent control). Find scrapes , the core ones, not the small ones but bathtub size, and if a line of rubs lead to it great.
The edge is choice, that is where softwood and hardwood meet. Deer love to travel these areas, and a stand looking into the hardwood placed in a good solid lone spruce tree will give great cover and easy to climb. A few screw in steps may be required at the base till you get up in the larger limbs.
