Sorry - silly question -- tag out? I dont follow.

I will say - If I am hungry, my freezer is empty and I need it filled, well....

Sure would, but then I'm kind of new to deer hunting and have yet to take a buck. If I could shoot something like that this year I would count myself lucky.

Depends on how much meat I already had hanging when I saw him.

Mark

How come someone always says what i'm thinking before i get a chance to say it?!?!?!? You do this all the time Mark! My post count suffers because of you. I hope you know that. :p

Don't got much hunting time this season, not really picky. Probably won't even see anything next weeks rifle hunt, can't go until Thursday evening (so Friday hunt). :(

I was looking at the backdrop, thinking yes, but not right there. WTH is that behind the buck?

I can speak with confidence that this buck will die of a ripe old age. It's on one of the Canadian Forces bases. I was just wondering who would hang up their hunting stuff for the year if it meant taking this one.
I have one buck tag left and pondered the idea of tagging out with a buck of this size - which would mean forgoing a 4 day hunting trip with my pal if I dropped one like it. Being more of a meat hunter, I would probably take it if I could make a great shot...

Every year this time the local media does stories on deer expiring in someones yard around the Victoria area with arrows/crossbow bolts badly placed.

I have been away for a while, but guessing this year won't be any different.

Nice Blacktail, BTW!

A whole lot of fuss is made over trophy size. While it is great to hang a big rack on the wall most of us have time restraints, lack of access to good hunting, tight budgets and a whole lot more that gets in the way hunting. The time we have to hunt usually short. If you get the opportunity to take a legal animal regardless of whether it will have a high score take it if you'd like. Personally I prefer many meals to share than a rack on the wall. If you want to harvest a big trophy every few years thats great as well.

As for that buck: he is a great representation of a blacktail.
