I found the next hunting rifle I want, but I can't buy it. Darn university education taking up all my money.... Just gotta keep it in mind that it'll be worth it in 4-5 years when I have that degree in my hands.

Yes then you have kids, home mortage etc.... You'll be buying good ole pumps for awhile! (I still have and USE every season - my Trusty 7600 30-06 that I bought when I was 16 with my grass cutting money!!! Man I slapped down a lotta $10 bills that day :D .. Considering I got $10 per lawn, bought it for $500..... )

Buddy, I feel your pain. As my momma used to tell me: "...A deal is only a deal if you can afford it, son..." Amen mom, I miss you.

Don't dispair though, a better deal will be around the corner for you. There always is...

I keep telling my mom not to hold her breath for Grandkids 'cause I'm not likely to have any... Hello H&H double rifle

Well in the mean time, college budget and all, you could always bolt two 303 sporters together :D :p Hang in there bud..

H&H double? You planning to hunt with it in your lifetime? Or eat? HELLO!

Their "Round Action" entry-level double, at just £38,000:

The Royal starts at a cool £71,000.

Expensive they are, but it's a small price to pay considering they are probably the finest firearms ever made.

I would get either get a nice H&H double, or a nice Rigby bolt action.
Personally I'd sink about a quarter of that amount into a good Merkel, Chapuis or Kreighoff, which are just as good, just as pretty and have a long heritage of fine firearms.
H&H are all well and good but paying for a name is a crock.

While I agree that the Krieghoff's and Merkel are fine firearms...I've definitely got my heart set on a Holland and Holland...

Let's hope your university degree lands you a CEO position with an oil company! (In which case you'll be expected to take a bunch of us along with you to Africa, however.)

In the meantime keep an eye on some of the secondhand dealers, such as Champlin Arms (who currently have a fully-engraved .318WR H&H double made for a maharajah, on offer for a mere £59k), Thad Scott etc., as well as H&H themselves and Rigby, Westley-Richards, Atkin, Grant & Lang, all of whom often have used doubles from various manufacturers as well as their own.

But remember a) it'll be really unnerving to have everyone watching you shoot when you turn up at the range with a fine double rifle, and b) if you don't post pics when you get one, you'll be banned from the forum!
