If anyone is interested...here's the end result of Saturday's fund raising event in Kingston.
Mother Nature made things as absolutely tough as she possibly could. The weather was cool...VERY windy...and rainy. Half hour before firing the first shot I was on the verge of calling it off. We decided to start and go as long as we could...and if things got too bad....stop and continue the next day.
For the first 200....there was a misty rain and the winds were fairly calm. I shot a pair of 98's.
And then all hell broke loose with the winds for the rest of the day. Our flags were full out horizontal for the next 800 targets.
In 35+ years of shooting skeet....these were without doubt the toughest targets I've ever shot.
Final tally.......in 8 hours....I shot 910/1000
First 500 with the 20 gauge
2nd 500 with the 28 gauge
I estimate at least 30-40 targets lost in the wind
Another 15-20 due to fatigue...and MORE wind....near the end when my 9 lb gun felt like 90 lbs
The remaining misses probably due simply to brain malfunctions...with a little more help from the wind.
Bottom line....I will not likely ever shoot 1000 targets in a day again. LOL LOL
If anyone else ever gets the urge to try this....I'd recommend you sit down and wait for it to pass. LOL LOL
In the eyes of Guinness.......I believe a world record was established.
Total collected for our Wounded Warrior Program........ $8161.86... so far..with a bit more trickling in. Final total will probably be somewhere around $8300.00 approx.
A very tough day.....but worth every minute of it.
