WOW!!! NEA is now being ripped off on Zahal.org

Haha 4 stripper clips cost $8.00 on that site. I wonder if they would want me to be a supplier, I'd only sell to them for $.50 each

For all though's wondering why they weren't selling to us Canuck's any more;

Well done Jeff & Dave!
:cheers:

Thats a cheap immitation of the original. At least they're not welded together. ;)

Zahal has a pending order with us, but those poor copies arent part of it.

There's some dimensional changes they did not copy from the bolt release.. obviously not realizing 'why' they were that way. There'll be performance issues for sure. Our bolt release requires some fairly specific (and expensive) non-standard tooling to make. It's a fairly complicated 3D component, even for a CNC machine. Add to that, we cut the part out of hardened steel (we don't heat treat afterwards) and the nature of the part becomes clear. You can make it cheaper.. but you can't make it better. And they aren't even making it cheaper.

The fact that I designed that part about 4 years ago and there have only been a few copies of the design, and none offering an improvement, I can say that I'm still pretty satisfied. I've put just shy of 1000 of them out to VZ owners. People know where to go for the real deal.

If their designs were improvements or their pricing was way below others I'd care more. But they aren't, and we don't. There's always more people wanting the real deal than a knock-off.

I guess those kinds of items aren't able to be patented? Edit** I guess North American Patent laws don't apply in the middle east, either?

When I ran Neit Arms I sold 10 packs of stripper clips for $5.. Do the math.. I made twice the value of the crate on the clips. Ammo became free. At one point I was stripping out crates just for the clips. We bought pallets at a time and the clips were the gravy. I sold thousands of them to the US and Europe. One mans trash is anothers treasure for sure.

I guess it's not really that funny now that I remember paying $5.00 for 5 7.62x54r clips

Longshot, there are three types of patents: national, regional and international. National applies to a single country, regional covers a specific area (such as the European Union) and international patents are administered by the World Intellectual Property Office. A Canadian patent does not protect outside of Canada. Same goes for regional patents. This is why, if you were to patent say a new doorknob in Canada, and someone in China begins to make knockoffs of it, you'd have a very difficult time prosecuting the manufacturer of the knock off. There are similar rules for trademarks, copyright, etc.

If you'd like more information, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office has a guide to Canadian patents, available here: http://www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/cipointernet-internetopic.nsf/eng/wr00102.html
