Went to range last monday back and kept them in my case inserted in foam. Took it out tonight they are both rust up already?! My guns never had an issue rusting but there are kept is a diff room. May be the room, may be the case or may be the mags... may be all of them.

Any easy way to get rid of the rust completely? I wipe them with oil on a cloth (big brown spot on the cloth now). Got most of it out but you can tell there is still some rust sticking on the surface.

Wipe them down with Hoppe's or Ballistol, with a bristle brush (or a toothbrush, something along those lines).

And what ammo were you using? I abuse my mags all the time and I've never gotten any rust on them. Your ammo might be corrosive, but I've never heard of corrosive .22 ammo. Weird.

Take them apart and spray with WD40. Nothing takes rust off better than that stuff. Wipe them out dry and apply a silicone cloth. Re-assemble and you're good to go. You may need to change the storage location.

Try not to store them in foam, good for transporting but not long term.

I think you are right. I left them in the foam for a week and these 2 became so bad. Compare to the other 22/45 mag I kept in a different place those are still in much better shape. Will just keep them in place where it has better air flow.

I will try to re-wipe them in WD40 and etc and see if I can completely get rid of all the rust first.

My MKII mags. rust quickly as well. Seems to be sweat/grease from your hands does it to them. The hotter the day the quicker I was seeing surface rust. Now I oil them when I get back from the range asap.

A friend had his surface rust over in 2 weeks in the foam in case. we have had a bunch of very Humid days lately, and the moist air caused havoc for him. He now also oils before storage, and right after shooting at the range, just to be safe.
