Had to share this one,.... $200 for an almost mint 1985 Steel Receiver Model 81 BLR chambered in 7mm-08,.. with a 1-4x Redfield scope,.. nice leather Browning sling,.. and 2 boxes of 140 Remington Core-lokt Ammo.
A few years ago I discovered that a guy I work with had this rifle, so I asked him if he could give me first offer on it should he ever decide to sell it,.. so last year he told me he was going to down size his collection and he was selling the BLR,.... well, my heart sank, because at the time I didn't have the spare money to buy it, so I regretfully had to tell him thanks but I haven't got the money right now,.. much to my surprise he said "don't worry, it will be waiting for ya,.. it's only for sale to you",.... needless to say I was very happy to hear that. So this year, we agreed on a price of $500, which I thought was a very good deal for this package,... so a month ago, I gave him $200 and told him I would have the remaining $300 for him as soon as I could,.... Well, yesterday he called me and told me to come get the rifle,.. I told him I didn't have all the money and I would rather he hold on the rifle until I could pay him in full,.. he said $200 was good enough, and that he wanted me to have it,... I couldn't believe my ears,.. I argued with him and told him I couldn't take such a nice rifle for only $200,.. but it didn't matter, he said he knew I wanted the gun for my collection, not just to resell it, and he insisted that he wanted me to have it. When I went to pick it up I tried to give him more money, but no way would he take another penny,.. only thing he wanted was the number off my PAL, just incase he should ever have to account for where his guns went, atleast he would have a record of legal sale and who the guns went to.
Needless to say I am amazed at how generous and thoughtful this guy is. Also, I am not the only person who received such a gift,.. he gave his cousin a brand new, unfired, still in the box, Winchester 94 XTR Big Bore 307, and he also gave a new bolt action rifle, (303 sporter I think), to another guy,.. and a few years ago a young fella came asking if he had a 22 for sale, he told the young fella "no, I don't, but come in and we'll see if I got one you like",.. the young fella picked out a semi auto and asked how much, he told the young fella to take it and all he wanted was a pair of rabbits.
Again, his generosity is amazing, he is just a regular working man in his fifties who doesn't have anything more than the average guy in our area, except maybe for an extra large heart. He is quite stout and jolly with a big beard, and I always told him he would make a great Santa Claus,... I guess when I sit back and think about it,... maybe he is Santa Claus,.. lol
Anyway,.. hope I didn't bore ya with such a long post,.. I just think things/people like this should be shared.
Here is a pic of the rifle...
