WS XVI Greece cost ballpark

I can't imagine pulling it off for under $4K. The hotel and airfare alone would probably be north of 3K.

I have a small spreadsheet where i broke it down based on reasonable expectations of cost with some padding for unknowns:

worldshoot economy business
airfare: 1800 4800
hotel: 1400 2200
food: 800 1200
car+misc: 800 1000
match fee: 600 600
ammo+ship: 500 500

totals: 5900 10300

Things get cheaper as you split room costs and others, the biggest unknown atm is how to get ammo there and the reason for the ammo cost being high are that you will lose the brass as its illegal to retain empty brass in Greece, and reloading is a no go there.

You will need to take a flight out of athens to rhodos or the ferry that is why the airfare is high, the net costs could be cheaper, but these should be decent for a ballpark. Oh, and its all in Euro, so its going to hurt a bit.

I used to live in Greece and still have some strong connections.
Airfare shouldn't be more then 1200-1400 in October, it is off season.
Stay, modest two people room will run around 50CDN/head
Food in Greece is not that expensive. $100 a day is more then plenty to eat in good restaurants.
Car?? Hmm, depends which size, but it shouldn't be 800 for a 10 day event. I say C-class car like Opel Astra or VW Golf should be around 600, divided by two if there are two guys, then around 300 bucks a head.

I think more realistic cost of going to Greece is around $4000 CDN.

That is I am not going to Greece. I like shooting USPSA, maybe shooting in Europe is mor challenging but in US I can shoot against best in the world for my class for fraction of a price.

Not during the WS you can't. The best will be there. Yes it costs a lot, but its a completely different experience than shooting in North America.
My biggest gripe is hotels. Prepare to be raped again on them.

I agree on actual costs being lower, I padded the numbers a bit for my taste to afford me some wiggle room for unexpected expenses. (btw, any idea what the flight from athens to rhodes would run, as 1200-1400 is likely to athens only)

Hopefully I can get in to shoot the US Nationals,...that is my plan. Greece is not in my budget this year. Hopefully the vote for the next worlds goes to someplace in North or south america.

Flight from Athens to Rhodes, shouldn't be more then 100 Euro, but I hate small planes will rather go on ferry
