So I go into WSS to pick up some ice fishing gear. I think...hummm. I never did pick up that 170 grain flat nose 308 (.311) mold I wanted. I'll just take a stroll over to that section while I'm here.

Now, to me, 308 would be one of the more popular rifle calibers made, right ???

Out of the entire cluster of molds they have on the shelf, there is ONE 308 mold.....it's a 100 grain...yea....real popular weight in 308 cal guns. I read the tags on the shelves....nope...that's the ONLY one listed and the only one they're going to stock by the look of it. Am I nuts or is this another FAIL by the purchasing department ?? I want to go find their purchasing manager and slap him/her/it up side the head and tell them to resign for the sake of all involved.

I'm so tired of going in there. Where else in all of Edmonton....ANYWHERE....can I buy bullet molds without ordering them and paying shipping ??? Anyone ???? Please ????? Pleeeeeeeese ??????

I have found a decent selection of molds to be very very rare at retail outfits.

Higginsons can get anything Lee makes and there are lots of online sources for factory and custom molds. I try to put together a decent sized order so that shipping isn't as bad.

You're probably stuck with the shipping. Try Cast Bullet Engineering, LBT,Lyman, and North East Industrial. Higginson sells Lee, but their multi cavity molds look to me more trouble than they're worth.

The problem with WSS is they don't have high turn over with reloading equipment, which in turn does not stock their shelves any faster that products that sell like 'hot cakes'.

wss failed me to, i ordered a rcbs 3 in one trimmer for 308, she said it was in stock, 10 days later i get a call telling me they did not have one there they would have to get one from another store will be 10-14 days to do so then ship to me ??, i cancelled and got one from natchezss in the states cheaper and in my hands 8 days later,

It's already been hinted at but there probably aren't too many sporting goods outlets that would have a good selection of items like that. When I'm in the Edmonton area, shopping, my two usual stops are WSS and P&d. I'm wondering if more of a speciality shop like P&d would have what you're looking for?

Again, and in that area, another place that has come through with some of the harder to find items on a number of occasions for me has been Bashaw Sports. When it hasn't been available at some of the more popular outlets, Bashaw has had the item. Perhaps give Pud & the guys a try.

For a go-to .224 55gr bullet, I like the Hornady 55gr spwc...........hornady's most popular bullet. WSS doesn't even have a stock number for this item (FAIL).

P&D doesn't stock any casting equipment, nothing, nada. Lock and Load has some molds but not many and that is about it for Edmonton.

If I wanted an off the shelf mold I would buy from Higginsons who only sells Lee stuff. Most of my molds are custom made from various state side and Europe sources.

Wholesale sports has more casting equipment on the shelf at all times in each one of their stores (that I've been into) than every other stocking retailer I've seen in Canada, COMBINED. There are thousands of moulds out there, no one can stock them all. Instead of giving them grief, I congratulate them on being the only dealer in the country that is at least trying to cater to casters.

Could of been sold out and the tag removed from the counter. Did you ask at the gun counter??

Lock and load has quite a few moulds, go over there and see Blair.
How about positng an ad on Gunnutz?

Had a check on WSS web site and here is the part #75845

Call P&D

You can get that mould from Buffalo Arms in the USA for US$57.89 and it's most likely in stock.

Amen to that.
Wholesale still has the best selection of reloading tools under one roof you'll ever find in Canada.
Bass Pro's shelves dont even compare and most private stores carry one or two product lines at best.

NEI,LBT, are both good outfits to deal with, both have good selection of good products.
seems to me Midway used to carry lots of Lyman. I've used all three brands, and the Lee's, LBT makes a lot of the commercial casters moulds ,too.
