Nail Polish with a coat of clear works very well and is very durable.
x2. I tried red on my Ruger GP100, was ok, but then went to safety orange. Like! Fast, easy and durable. Also pretty cheap if you get it at the dollar store.
Just use a good enamel based paint...Testors model paint works great.
It provides a good-looking, durable finish...most pistol sights are painted in with enamel right from the factory.
I have painted many of my front sights with florescent red. But the results were poor until a CGNr explained that the first step is a bright white paint. After that is dry, paint on the red. the result is outstanding.
I bought two little jars of paint at a model store.
I cut a piece of card stock to a point and use that to apply the paint.
