holy single shot 22!!!!

but all are youth, i am looking for an adult rifle for him, he is 7 now, i want it for when he is about 10, i plan on getting it now, teaching shooting to him, and its his at 10 once responsible, but he is a huge tall kid even now

Pretty good looking Cooey single shot rifles go in the $70 range at gun shows out this way. You are not in a hurry, so I would look at a gun show. The wood stock is the easiest to bring back to better-than-new condition, if it isn't dinged too deep.
I once bought a very sad looking Cooey for $20. They are kind of fun to work on. I ended with an oil finished stock and completely cold reblue job. People thought it was a new rifle. If you are fixing up one for your son, you won't mind the time spent on it.
On the other hand, there was a Winchester, single shot, Model 67, boys rifle, shorter barrel and shorter stock, in pristine, like new conditon, at a gun show this spring. Somebody bought it for a $100. They are miles better quality than any Cooey. The trigger alone is worth the extra money. I wish I would have seen it first.

Don't discredit the Husqvarna Single Shot's on Tradex.

They are very simple to work on, yet high quality and mechancially sound.

The LOP on mine (also listed as a youth rifle) is 13 3/4" and it fit me (6' tall) great.

I was looking for a project gun too and bought one of these. It'll be a great choice.

Not to mention they are good shooters too.

Check out the thread about them (search Husqvarna).

If you click on the picture you enlarge it and get a better view of the rifles. I only saw one that stated no trigger guard.
