H110 will not burn properly in a case like the 45-70. It needs pressure to burn.
I did some load development with it (on another cartridge) the results were dangerous. Wild velocity swings eratic target performance.
Not a good choice.
I'd use R7, or H 4198.
I only use H322 in all of my 45-70 loads after finding it to be the best powder for this cartridge.
I have been loading for a 22" S/S barreled T/C Contender Carbine in 45-70 for about 10 years now.
I use a max load of 56grs H322 with 300gr bullets to a max of 49grs with 400/405gr bullets.
I took extreme cautions when doing my load developement for this cartridge/rifle combo so reduce my loads by at least 15% before working up to safe levels in your T/C Contender.
