I ordered a bunch of items from brownells including a Jewell Rem700 trigger. They then informed me that the trigger needed a special export permit because its a firearm part, and that I'd have to call the ministry of so-n-so, etc, and get special permits:eek:. So what do they call it when I'm buying firing pins, mounts/bases, bolt knobs, barrels, etc ...are those NOT firearm parts?

Where are all you guys getting easy access to aftermarket M700 triggers? I was going to get a Jewell, but the trigger looks too skinny/thin (Like an M14) I like the feel of the factory....the closest thing I saw to that was a Timney. The Timney 700 trigger has a wide serrated trigger like the factory, but is probally alot better quality. My factory trigger is alright...it's set at 2.5lbs pull, but I have been experiencing some creep.

Where could I get easy access to a Timney 700 trigger?

Thanks:cool:

i think they meant that the trigger is a " significant " part which needs an export permit.

******Disregard this note if shipping in the US. This note only pertains to International orders.******"If gun parts exceed $100.00 OR an Action, Receiver, Frame, Cylinder, Barrel, Flash Hider or Military Scope is orderd a State Department License is required. If your order requires an export license our Export Department will contact you."

Its 170-229.95 USD, so would require a export permit...

I have tried a Shilen, Timney, and Rifle basix and I like the Rifle basix the most. It was wider (which I prefer) and just smoother. The Shilen was good second but I didn't like how thin the trigger was with Timney coming in a distant third.

I am hoping things will losen up abit on importation of these types of items. I suspect it will be only a matter of time especially if Canada continues to conform with USA requests....

I bought my Jewell off of Larry in Kentucky. It took a month to get through the border (nothing new for me and was not his fault) price was unbeatable as well.
