In April I ordered a number of items from Brownells, among them a Magpul MOE+ AR 15 grip. The invoice lists it as a "State Department Regulated Item" as were two other items; a .22LR CMMG mag and a Ruger SS Mini 14 gas pipe. But - I received them all!

Today I placed another order that included another Magpul MOE+ grip was told that it could not be shipped. I was transferred to the "International Order Desk" and was told that it was a no-no item. When I asked why, I was told that it was MAGPUL who decided NOT to ship to Canada. Huh?

This is getting weird .....
 
I guess Brownells told you the truth:

We do NOT ship internationally and all orders must have both billing and shipping addresses located within the 50 United States or District of Columbia.
While we proudly support the Members of the US Military and believe that it is a great privilege to service their needs, we must fully comply with all United States export control laws and regulations. If you would like to place a government order for any Magpul product(s) to be exported to an APO/FPO please contact one of our Customer Service Representatives to discuss your options.
 
I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with ITAR and more to do with exclusive distributor contracts than anything else.

This. Brownells can't ship magpul stuff to Canada anymore because of magpul - magpul signed a deal with someone that makes them exclusive distributor in Canada, or something along those lines.

Search magpul and brownells on the forum, this has been covered in detail twice already.
 
Since Magpul products are so common (and often out of stock) in Canada, this is the only logical explanation.

Its really quite unfair to compare Brownells to a Canadian retailer - Brownells can purchase on a scale which completely dwarfs the entire Canadian market by several times, right?

To even place a wholesale order with Mapgul a dealer needs to commit at least $1 million to them.
 
I buy in Canada - when items are available. If not, I go south. Brownells offers a discount to serving and ex-military buyers.
 
Weird... I just ordered a Magpul RVG from Brownells like 2 weeks ago, cleared customs on the weekend and should be here soon... unless this is a super new rule, this is news to me.

I've ordered several grips, stocks, and afgs from them in the past without issues.
 
I'm totally fine with you rationalizing why you choose to pay 30% more on everything, at least try to be civil about it. I think you're due for a time out period, arts and crafts period seems to have gotten you all cranky and tuckered out.

As for me, I just prefer getting the most amount of stuff for the least amount of money and orient my consumption with that in mind.

Indeed. It is the old Wal Mart vs small guy debate. Free market economics is a beautiful thing.
