I have 3 boxes (20 rounds each) of WW II .45 ACP ammunition from the Frankford Arsenal and was wondering what the value of them would be.

They are stamped: FA 42. The Lot# is 1316. The rounds are in the original boxes which are in fair to good shape with a stamped red label. Also have a number of loose rounds of the same.

Thx. SKBY.

Beater is absolutely right,

Not unlike many countries that used the same ammo for pistols and sub machine guns in the past, the new frames of modern handguns are not designed in most cases to deal with the heavy loads.
It sounds like you may only be asking the question to see what the value is in a historical sense, if so, I have no idea, However, if you can't find out, or don't want to take the chance of having an accident which would be the smart approach, you could always take them apart to use the components for reloading.

just a thought

Yes, I am interested in the value in a historical/collectors sense.

I haven't even thought about using it because I want to keep the boxes complete.;) I keep them seperate from my regular .45 ammo.

At least know I know it is Subgun ammo and NOT pistol ammo.:)

Thx. SKBY.

Well even if they are not worth much, it is a nice keepsake, especially if the boxes are in tact.

Well I am not a collector, and a CGN WWII collector expressed interest in them so they are on their way to a good home.:D

Thx. for all the info.:dancingbanana:

the real taste test is if they have a red ring around the primer, or red primer. thats how you tell if its unboxed ammo, in the millitary WW2 department. red=danger in a handgun
