I just spent the better half of the evening watching two shows on WW1, including Paris 1919, and must say they were the most interesting of the year in their category so far. I must commend TVO for broadcasting intelligent history television. Even though I live in the country and don't have many alternatives, I would be hard pressed to find more interesting and educative episodes. I just wish the youth of today spent more time learning about important history lessons and less about the insignificant and artificial crap they are fed today. Maybe they can learn of yesteryear's mistakes.
Anyways, that's my Sunday evening rant!

You might enjoy this one as well.....

In remembrance of those who gave all in the first war, here's one we're hosting in High Definition online for the next week or so....

I Was There: the Great War Interviews (2014) - BBC Full Length Documentary (1 hour) http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=48058

Originally, The Great War was a 26-episode documentary series from 1964 on the First World War. The documentary was a co-production involving the resources of the Imperial War Museum, the British Broadcasting Corporation, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The main narrator was Michael Redgrave, with additional readings by Marius Goring, Ralph Richardson, Cyril Luckham, Sebastian Shaw and Emlyn Williams. Each episode is about 40 minutes long.

On 16 October 2013, fifty years after the release of the series, the BBC announced that previously unseen interview material, recorded during the making of The Great War, will be used in a new programme, My Great War, to be shown as part of the BBC's programmes during the First World War centenary.[9]. The programme was first broadcast on 14 March 2014 and entitled "I Was There: the Great War Interviews".

Doug
