I have recently came across 4 boxes of factory WW2 303 ammo (48 rounds ) per box. Each round is still sealed in factory boxes and is head stamped 1944 D/Z.I also have 200 plus rounds of 7.62x51 mm Ball c21(160 rds still in sealed boxes).Iam looking for a value on these so I may post on CGN's EE for sale. Thanks Samson Pictures available

303

I thought they may have been worth more.Thats why CGN is a great place for advice .Might as well just leave them in storage. Thanks Samson

The .303" was made by Defence Industries (DI) a crown corporation run by CIL. It is Boxer primed nc.

It is worth at least the price of the cheapest commercial .303 Br and .308 Winchester.

The DA .303 is among the very best ever made. The suggestion it is Indian is off-the-mark. The Canadian factories never reverted to the British specification of mercuric primers, sticks of cordite and other silly propellants. They used modern contemporary ammunition techniques with noncorrosive primers and stable ball/stick powder. Very good stuff. BTW, my father's Long Branch sniper rifle hit a cold barrel zero V-Bull at 800yds with crate-standard issue ball just like yours.

The IVI is Canadian government military issue. Some of those lots in the mid-70's were pure $hite, with undersized or eccentric bullets, and indifferent quality control. Don't try to shoot it for accuracy!

Surplus Ammo

I may as well leave them in storage as I have 3 Lee-Enfields.Thanks for all of the info.I know that they are hard to get and was trying to make a buck. The 7.62x51 I have no rifle for as of yet! Thanks Samson

The powder used in those cartridges is quite likely BLC or 3031. Very consistent and stable powders for their time. BLC is the predecessor of BLC2.
