ww2 mk3 info needed, help!

I have an old lee enfield mk3 in .303 brit. does anyone have any idea how i would go about tracking this firearm back to the date of manufacture? be kind of neat to see where it's been and who's used it. it's got a name carved into the stock so that really makes it feel authentic..at least i think so. are there websites out there dedicated to this type of thing, or clubs or something? someone's gotta be able to point me in the right direction

Usually on the right side of the wrist, there will be a cipher and a date.
You could actually try this query down in the milsurp section, where the Enfield junkies hang out.

Welcome....

As stencollector said, the date of manufacture and the maker are on the right side of butt tang, right under the bolt handle, when it's closed.

The date is abvout all you are going to find out. Unless it has a brass stock disc, and that will only indicate what unit it was last issued to.
