Neat find, I've never seen that model before.

I did a quick online search and I believe it is known as the RLB knife. German Air Protection Federation [Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB)]

Check out a site called " The Collectors Guild". They're out east and if you browse their website in the Nazi swords and daggers section, you should get an idea of value. They won't tell you value unless you send it to them. They sell on consignment. You can look at ebay, but there are so many fakes out there that it makes browsing difficult. Nice find, but get the provenance (ie: find out who picked it up and when). All the information you can gather on it's origins will help you in value and ensure that you're not lowballed should you decide to sell.

Did a quick check of a reference book I have.

It lists 4 different models for the RLB knives, but I'm not sure which model is yours.

1. RLB Other ranks 1936- Listed as very scarce - Value: $1200

2. RLB Officers 1936 - Listed as rare- Value: $2640.

3. RLB Other ranks 1938 - Listed as very scarce - Value: $1200

4. RLB Officers 1938 - listed as rare- Value: $2600.

Hope this helps

Unfortunately provenance that can't be proven,(a period pic, capture papers) isn't really going to increase value. Anyone can make up any story about anything.

I found this out on the net,I really appreciate all the help! Please keep it coming!

WWII German RLB 2nd Pattern dagger - The RLB This was the National Air Defense League. Enacted on April 29th 1933. Its mission was to develop civil defense forces among the population.*

The Subordinate RLB dagger 2nd model was introduced in 1939. This dagger is more difficult to obtain because it was not issued automatically to the individual, but rather, it had to be earned. Many other daggers could be purchased by the wearer. This one was not commercially available.

The design of the 2nd model is very similar to the RLB first model . However, there are some differences which are covered here.*

the RLB second model has a rounded silver pommel. Two level construction. It is attached to a sleek, Coke bottle shape handle. A metal starburst device is attached to the center of the handle. It has a dark enanel swastika affixed.*

The crossguard is of modern design. Silver color. portrays an eagle clutching a circle with a swastika in its center. the extended wings form the crossguard itself. The eagle extends and covers part of the base of the blade.

The scabbard is of metal construction. Painted black. It has a silver fitting at the tip point. One side has a small loop that secures a triangular shape amde of wire. A leather strap attaches to this triangle. A silver spring loaded clip is found at the opposite end of the strap.*

The blade was of was ogf stiletto style. Double edge type.

Damn! But the Nasties really had some superb graphic artists working for them!

Interesting point is that Uncle Adolf himself designed quite a few of their pretties for them. He was no paper-hanger but actually rather a gifted artist although he had no formal training. Likely, he would have made a top-grade graphics man if only he had the Piece of Paper. But he did not, so he got into the only business where you need NO qualifications at all to get to the top: politics.

All our guys had was a tin hat and an arm-band that said "A.R.P."

No style at all.

I hear ya smellie.Funny how the Germans stuff(for the most part)was the coolest looking;helmets,uniforms,guns,planes,tanks...............I have a few cool ww2 collectables but nothing stands out the way the German stuff does.
