over the past few months we've cleaning out the family farm to ready it for auction
anyways, one item that turned up was my great uncle Owens ID tags from the second world war. simply two leather discs, one round, one hexagonal. they are stamped with the following
L134274
PTE
O Keating
RC
CDN
i know the L prefixe of the serial number signifies he was from military district "L", basiclly all of Saskatchewan, and the "PTE" obviously means private. the CDN = Canadian. what i'm wondering is if using the srerial number can i find out more about his service record? i found a nominal roll of the South Saskatchewan Regiment on the web, only one Keating on ther. Company QuarterMaster Sargent R.O Keating. also a relation, but not the same one. i'm told there should be 5 or 6 Keatings on that list.
