Went to see a display of some WWII uniforms and gear at The Halifax Citadel, got to see some cool stuff, too bad my GD camera died before i got to the WWII display set up by the Atlantic Canadian World War Two Living History Association. They had some neat stuff, seen a SMLE with a Magazine cutoff with is something iv never seen. Plus the Citadel had some nice displays and things going on. If ya get a chance to have a look its worth a visit. Here's some pics.

Was a very enjoyable day and met some interesting people there too.

We were there this summer - a VERY interesting place.

A nice young man in Highlander kit told us the Brown Bess' they use are all repro, but the Sniders came out of the back of a MOD warehouse in the UK a few years ago. "Priceless military heritage, issued to summer students who bash 'em about"...

I liked Halifax. Great history, great sushi, nice people.

Thanks for the memories BigC...

DarkAlleyDan - can't remember exactly what they were, but we got issued vintage rifles when I was in the N.S. Intl. Tattoo (circa '88).

The Citadel is well worth a visit. We were in the maritimes this summer and made a visit during our time in Halifax. There are some fascinating artifacts to be seen, incl General Wolfe's cloak.

I went through Basic with a gent that used to work there. He said that the Citadel had tons of toys; as Vets keep on passing the collection keeps growing and growing (especially as un-papered guns come out of the closet).

Hi, I was there, a member of the Living History association! I was only there from 9-1:30 though, I see you had some pics done with some of the members.
I think the most impressive rifle on display in the museum is a No. 1 Mk III Enfield in a display case in the WW2 section. Encrusted in a thick layer of rust and stoney debris, it was recovered from the sea off Juno Beach. But clearly a relic of D-Day, it gave me chills to look at it on display. Lest we Forget.

the most impresive rifle of all in there is Ross rifle #1 the prototype..its locked behind closed doors and I've enjoyed the chance to maul it a few times. it was donated to them awhile back and is the baby of they'r collection hence kept in a climate controled room.
