Saw two for sale today. Looked like right out of "Enemy at the gates". All original all matching, scopes and all. A 1943 and a 1944. How much do they normally go for? Is there any collectors value in them? VG to VG+ condition.

They sell for 695 bucks at most online stores. They are import marked under the handguard though. Scopes for the most part are re-calibrated SVT40 scopes.

Thanks! Is there a way to tell if its an original scope or a an SVT 40 scope? Also is there any difference in value between a 43 and a 44?
No real difference in value. The SVT 40 scope tube is smaller between the turret and the eye piece.(see pic below) and recalibrated SVT scope are usually(but not always) marked "CB" on the elevation turret.

See the smaller diameter of the tube in the circled area.

The 1944 one has a scope you described with a thinner tube between the eye piece and the adjustment knobs. It's marked 1941

The 1943 one has a scope with the tube being the same thickness all along. The scope has no year markings but it looks very old and authentic. I'll upload pictures in a bit.

I did not see any import markings on either rifle. I don't think these guns have been refurbished. They want $600 for each. Would the gun with an SVT scope be less valuable then?

Hey SKS47, before you jump into the pile with both feet, go do a search in the Milsurps forum. There's a big thread there about the recent M-N snipers plus more.

A little research goes a long way...
