I just bought a Browning Stainless X-Bolt in 22-250 and would like to get advise on a couple of good factory loads to test (for coyotes)? Ammo is expensive an I'd like to try to narrow it down to a couple of types to test out, any one with an x-bolt in 22-250 who could offer advise would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks Pete

I bought the same firearm a few years ago, and went with the fluted barrel, and just love it. It's the wifes favorite gun!

Anyway ... When I buy factory I use af few things:

1 - If I just want to shoot things up, Canadian Tire Winchesters 55 gr ... stuff smokes like a bugger
2 - If I'm concerned about accuracy - Hornady V-max and Federal Premium Sierra Gameking 55 and 50 grn

I since got into reloading so dont buy much factory, and still sitting on the fence over 50 or 55 grns, but leaning towards 50.

Thanks everyone for the info! I picked up three boxes to test out next week, 20 each of Hornady V-max in 40 and 50 gr and a 40 pk of the Winchester 55 gr. I'll post late next week once I take them to the range.

Thanks again,

Pete

I will second the following loads, very good stuff:
- Hornady Varmint Express 50gr V-Max
- Federal Power-Shok 55gr Softpoint

Garbage:
- Grey Box Winchester 55gr Softpoint
- White Box Hollowpoints

My Ruger No1V loves the 45 grain Winchester HP. Cheap and accurate, gotta love that. I mainly handload for it now, but have found a load that mimics the factory pretty good and gives the same accuracy too. But when I dont have the time I just drop by CTC and grab a cheap box of Winchesters and have at it. Very convenient.
