My X bolt .270 Win all weather's muzzle brake came apart today at the range. The rifle was unfired until this morning. Shot #27 and the brake blew apart. It separated about 1/4 inch from the muzzle of the barrel, the threaded end is still on the rifle.

The brake was tight so I have no idea what caused the failure. I have sent an email to Browning Canada to see if this is a warranty covered failure. I was shooting Federal Factory 130 grain Fusion ammo. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

June 16 2020 update. So I received my replacement muzzle brake from Browning yesterday, excellent service! In the meantime I have sold the rifle. Gonna go back to the old A bolt, wasn't impressed with the new rotary magazine and a few other things.

Cheers

What is “tight”? Was it hand tight, or did you actually tighten it with some leverage?

It was tight. As I said, the threaded section of the brake is still on the rifle.

I would guess that is a warranty problem...at least it should be... how far did the front of the brake go?

No idea, couldn't find it. Was shooting fine then a shot went way off to the side of the group that I was working on. Put the rifle down to cool the barrel and noticed the brake with 2/3 or so gone. Looks like a door breacher now.

In the event Browning does nothing for me, do any of you recommend a good replacement brake?

I have been doing this brake on light barrels for a long time... pm me if interested.
