im trying to install a long-action 700 SPS into a Sendero stock.
the inlet seems to be a touch different -- the new X-Mark Pro trigger safety lever seems quite a bit larger (sticks out more from the triggergroup).

any thoughts other than replacing the entire trigger? dremeling out the stock isnt exactly what i had in mind since it is actually rubbing against the full length alum bedding block.

is removing the safety a possible solution until i can order a bolt shroud 3-position safety?

problem is i kindof need the gun ready ASAP :(

perhaps i can swap triggers with another 700 for now.
or i can just remove the safety if possible.. i dont use the safety on my varmint guns anyway, they are all single fed and carried empty.

any thoughts on just removing the X-Mark Pro safety entirely?

Ditto... there is absolutely no advantage in having close stock tolerance around the trigger group.

Have it milled out or grind it out... then bed the action as well. I have never seen an aluminum bedding block that fit... they are made to fit any action poorly and no action well.
 
Personally I hate the xmark trigger. I swapped mine out for an old-style rem trigger, had no issues (even though it was my first time doing it). Take a couple digital pics of the trigger before you take it out to help you remember how it all went together. Not sure about doing just the safety, though.

i swapped the trigger with an old style 700 trigger and it fits perfectly, perfect gaps on either side.
its the damned X-Mark, the entire trigger housing is thicker and the safety lever has a hump on it that sticks out at least 1/8" further than the old safety.

so heads up to anyone planning on swapping a new Remington into a Sendero or 700P HS Precision stock -- the X-Mark pro trigger will not fit.

im hesitant about grinding out the stock inlet to accomodate the X-Mark since its solid aluminum and thins out near the tang/cutout for the bolt handle and i dont want to weaken it. ill just trade the X-Mark for an old style Remmy trigger, or upgrade to a Timney (and wait for Brownells to fill out the paperwork on it).

i was planning on an upgrade to a bolt shroud 3-position safety, and might also go to a Kepplinger set trigger.

I like the old style 700 triggers better too... I have had a couple of the new 700 triggers for adjustment and they are a bit harder to work on, but they did work out as good in the end... it isn't that hard to get a nice crisp 2 pounds out of them if you want them that low.
 
Go with Jewell

Buy a Jewell trigger and get it over with. I like the HVRTRSBR, it's the HVR trigger with 3 different springs and a range from 1.5oz to 4.5lbs, and has the top right safety and the bolt release just like the regular Rem triggers. Once you use them you will want one on all your rifles. (IMO) :sniper:

Although I do have a Timney on my 257 Weatherby Vanguard and it works great also. :dancingbanana:
