Just a heads up for those of you who may have one.
Just declared prohib last week.

Turn it in or all the baby kittens in your neighborhood will start dying!!!
:jerkit:

So the system itself is prohibited now? Would this not apply to only semi auto shotguns? Can this system be used on pump shotguns?

It can be used on pumps.
The heart of the system is the same for both semi and pump, but the attachment hardware is different.

Buying a pump version and then subsequently getting the mounting hardware for a semi is a reality, but that can be said about any mag extension.

its just stupid.

Never heard about it, but now I want one. How much compensation are they offering to those who turn them in? If nothing, then get bent.

It can't be legally used in a pump gun because it is a prohibited device ....I originally thought the RCMP was wrong on this one, but the way the regs read, I think they are right...

It was originally designed for pumps and semis, therefore it is prohibited. We all know these cartridge regs are a two way street

We get LAR mags, they get S&W 15-22 mags
We get 14 9mm rounds in a 40 may, they get the xrail.

The problem here isn't their interpretation (which is usually the case with firearms) the problem is actually the regs

I've always wondered about this, which is why I've never invested in an IPSC shotgun (plus comps don't seem to be that common in Alberta).

So semi-autos are limited to 5 rounds, so the immediate thought is: get an 870 with a long tube. But the long tube itself can be fitted to a semi-auto, so doesn't that mean it is a prohibited device? Because I can't see a company making a tube saying that it only works with a pump, so therefore it is "designed" to be used with a semi-auto, ergo prohibited.

So how exactly do you extend the tube on a pump-action shotgun legally? And which pump-action shotguns come from the factory with a 5+ tube?

When you talk to gunsmiths or manufacturers anywhere else on the face of the planet they just can't wrap their heads around why you would want a pump rather than a semi-auto. Doesn't even occur to them that there's a market for large capacity pumps.

I did think about getting a competition shotgun from the US, like an X3 or an 11-87 customized or something, and then only fitting a long tube on it when I'm outside of Canada, but it just seemed like too much hassle for something I'd hardly use.

And wait for the next prohibition (they're not going for restrictions but all the way to prohibitions) If your baby-killing weapon is not authorized for more than five rounds, you cannot leave home with more than five rounds. After you shoot all five, you MUST return home for five more (only if you want. It IS a free country, after all.)

More like a one-way street with a yield sign.

I don't see it as a one way street. There is no way the intent was to have 10 round mags legal for use in an AR....but we got away with that one because of the wording.

That same wording works against us at times.

To me, thats a two way street.

So are all tube extenders prohibited or is it just this certain brand?

I can understand if it is just the one brand if they are marketed for semis...

Same goodness as the LARs exct

All we need is someone to package them for pumps :)
