As this will be my main hunting rifle and nothing stands out more than a black rifle in the woods.I have decided to paint my xcr.I need some ideas for camo patterns and painting techniques. Please post some pictures to give me some ideas.

Look at Liquid Customs web page. They are a hydro dipping business based in Red Deer AB. They have a ton of camo patterns and the finish is stronger then any home jobby you would be doing. They did a fellow CGNers Tavor in Kryptec Highlander for $270 plus shipping.

Just checking out their site. Wow! They do some nice work.

Do not waste your time on krylon paint. Yes it's cheap and can be repaired for nothing but it will rub and scratch off very easily. I did a scope with it and even with good prep work and letting it dry for 3 days it was all scratched and dinged up after it was on the rifle and went in and out of the safe a few times.

I have an AR with a factory Cerekote finish and it looks like new after over 4000 rounds. Quality coatings are definitely worth the money.

You should look into getting it hydrodipped if you're still looking.

All those mossy oak/real tree patterns among hundreds of others are all available and can be put onto your XCR. There's thousands of patterns if you are interested in something besides camo too. One more cool thing is you can "tweak" a lot of patterns by changing the base coat. Lots of the films have transparent spots or patterns (paint free) so your base coat stands out through them. We have a white and black camo that is 1/3 transparent and it seems to work well with most colours, as an example.

If you don't shoot it until the barrel is red hot you can even do the barrel, most of it holds up to heat very well! (Some people do the down pipes to their turbos... I can't say if I'd recommend this at this time.)
