XCR-l breakin- diff ammo?

I've been waiting on a heavy 1/8 barrel , and I've been told it will be awhile longer. They do have a 1/8 light profile barrel that I could have now. What do you think? Should I wait on the heavy barrel? Take the light barrel?

Take the light barrel, the heavier barrel won't shoot any better and as CanZuk says it helps the rifles balance a lot.

No FMJ allowed on crown land in NL. At least that's what wildlife told me. No FMJ allowed to be in your possession , on crown land frequented by wild life.

Notin like guilty tull pruven innocent eh der me buddy? ;) LOL, so weird how every province can have such different rules.

Well I'm getting anxious to go shooting, and I'm pretty sure I want the heavy barrel. Would I be giving up much if I went with a 1/9 heavy barrel opposed to a 1/8 heavy barrel? The heaviest bullits I have are 62g.

For your application, 1:9 would be perfect.
Until you get to 70gr+, there's no advantage with 1:8.

As said ,1:9 is fine for 62gr but theres no harm in 1:8 and you always have the option to run a heavier bullet if you chose too later. I chose the 1:8 because I'll be using this for Coyote hunting this winter and be using a 75 gr Hornady pill. I don't really shoot much surplus or comercial 223, it's mostly handloads. For banging away in the gravel pit or plinking at the range I use the 7.62x39 setup because that sh!t is damn cheap. At 17 cents a round for surplus x39, its not worth it to reload anying for play ammo.

Just read this after I replied. You won't be gigiving up anything with the 1:9. I forgot you had to wait for the HB in 1:8.

This ^^^
You can't over-stabilize a bullet so I usually opt for an 8 twist if I have a choice but if you only plan to run 62gr then a 9 twist will be fine.
