After scrolling through the 97 pages of FAQ's on the xcr I was not able to find an answer so figured I would post here. When the xcr is loaded (i.e. one in the chamber, safety on) does the upper receiver takedown latch lock preventing the action from being accidentally opened with one in the tube? I have been looking at the xcr for awhile now and every google search or youtube vid talks about the takedown latch. Have any xcr owners/user's ever had issues with the latch snagging on your clothing or molle vest when slinging the rifle? I like all the other features of the xcr but am concerned that the latch may be an issue. It would suck to have all the upper internals drop free into the snow or muskeg after snagging and opening up while being slung. If it was mentioned in the FAQ's and I missed it I would appreciate the link. Thanks.

My old man has about 4000 rounds through his XCR, I've been right there to witness about 90% of it, and most if not all of this has been shot while running a chest rig and sling. He's never had an issue with it.
Personally I always wondered about it too, it looks like it could catch on gear for sure, I still think if it was contacted in the wrong way by a chest rig or Armour, it could be very bad, but it hasn't happened. yet

No it doesn't.
I didn't personally. Also I haven't heard of any reports of this from people that bush pack this regularly. I'm sure there will always be an exception but this would be pretty rare.
Almost 4000 rounds through mine, many of which were slung with a single or two point sling running a chest rig, no issues with the take down latch snagging and popping the receiver open here. I am sure it could happen if you tried hard enough, but generally it seems like a non-issue.
The latch isn't lightweight. A sling will slide off or flip out before actually depressing it to release, same for any clothes etc. Never heard of it being a problem. You'd have to knock it against or catch it on something hard and heavy in just the right way to depress it to release. A tree branch would never do it really either because one thin enough to catch wouldn't be strong enough and a strong enough branch would have too large of radius to catch. Everything I've seen is that the rifle can be abused fairly well.
