hi there,

inam interested in aquiring an Xcr for some non restricted fun. ive read that it has issues with lower quality ammo. is this true? will i have to reload or buy the expensive stuff to run this baby?

will standard bulk .223 work well enough?

thanks,

ok nevermind. just found the massive XCR thread.

IS there anything i should know prior to buying one of these? anything I should look to avoid in a used one?

In both of my xcr-l's I have run pretty much only AE bulk and the Norinco bulk form CanadAmmo with zero issues of any kind. Norinco non corrosive in my 7.62 conversion as well has never let me done. Great gun, super reliable and I have never had the need to loctite any of the parts either.

I'm locktitng some parts on one of my Remington 700's today, I think I'll pull my XCR apart as well, just to give her a little cleaning, that one isn't getting any locktite, Alex has gotten enough of my money for now.:D

I've ran a few different brands and grains of .223 through my XCR-L with no issues at all.
I mainly buy .223 in MFS brand bulk, but it is metal casings so it can't be reloaded if that matters to you.
So far I haven't had a single issue with my rifle, and any contact I have had with RA has been very pleasant.
Just be sure to read the owners manual and set the gas correctly during break-in.

My XCR runs any ammo I throw at it. I'm on my second 1000 round ammo can of AE bulk ammo and haven't had one single issue.
Buy the gun, buy the bulk ammo and never look back.
