Hi fellas, I have an xcr-m and I have about 250 rounds down the tube. I took it apart the other day and noticed what seems to me to be excessive wear on the locking lugs of the bolt. Maybe galling is a better word. Is this normal? I have no way of putting up pics right now as I am at work, but will post some when I get home.

Any advice or comments? I have been thinking about contacting Wolverine and seeing what they have to say.

Cheers, YC

Hey yukoncoyote,

Galling is a common problem with many types of guns, bolt guns and rotating semi autos alike. It's more of a concern on precision bench rest and Palma guns. I've been told it doesn't really affect the accuracy of semi autos. The best way to reduce this is to use moly based grease on the locking lugs. If you regularly lubricate your lugs with moly grease, it will stop and further galling, as well as smooth out your existing marks over time (hundreds of rounds). Give Wolverine a call and see what they have to say about it.

Well maybe I'm just so used to the fine precision of the Swiss Arms, which makes no marks on the bolt. But for the price of the rifle I owuld think all should be well. Seems very unusual to me. I will be contacting Wolverine about this. Thanks for the reply.
