Brand New XCR. Cleaned and lubed like crazy, before first firing.
I have put about 110 rds through. Factory Federal Eagle and S&B mostly (308,150 g), gas setting 4.

After 3 rounds fired from the mag this morning, there was a failure (click click). Looked at the ejection port, and the spent #3 casing was jammed sideways in the OPEN chamber. The 4th round was chambered. Waited 60 seconds, safety on, released magazine. 5th round in mag is fine. Broke open firearm, removed spring and bolt assembly. Tapped out round #4 with a cleaning rod from the muzzle end.
Inspected basic spring and bolt carrier, seemed fine so inserted back.

But the Charging handle will not move back more than about 1-2 inches now, and I don't want to fight it. Broke apart again and left the range.

Before I break it all apart, I'm wondering if there is a simpler fix that I'm missing, or if anyone has any experience with this.
Thanks

Read up on the manual for gas settings. It sounds like you don't have enough gas to properly eject the previous brass so it's stove piping in your action. I recall there is a break in setting recommendation for the XCR-M. As for the charging handle. Did you put it back together properly? If all else fails get someone familiar with the XCR-M to take a look for you.

The gas setting is on 4 I believe, from factory. I read the manual, but will again. Thanks. I might take photos of it.

fixed. Took apart and re-cleaned (field strip), re-lubed especially. It was the trigger assembly stuck in the extended position (Up), jiggled the safety and trigger, if flipped back down, and all is well.

You might have to increase the gas setting or do another clean. I was having some fte on setting 3 and after cleaning it functioned fine again on that setting. When the spring and bolt assembly is out can you move the charging handle freely? I remember having a similar problem and my problem was putting it back together while leaving the bolt catch on, did you see if yours is on?

It was all a blur. Good experience though in cleaning and lubing, handling each of the primary parts. Didn't take the barrel or gas tube out. I'll save that for after 300 rds. Looks like I'll be back at Sherwood Park tomorrow :)

Glad to hear that you got it fixed.

Didn't take the barrel or gas tube out. I'll save that for after 300 rds.

Why would you take the barrel out after 300 rounds? If it's functioning as it should I'd just leave it alone. You'll get a POI shift and have to re-zero at the very least.

Oops. Thanks. I'm such a dolt, I read somewhere that it needed "inspection". I'll forgo that then and fire happily away. Thanks brothers!
