XCR-M Keymod Barrely alignment issues

I bought a new XCR-M back in September/October and after purchasing I noticed the barrel was leaning left slightly, about 1mm to the left. I read through forums and tried to get this barrel to seat even inside the hand guard but couldn't manage. Some people had mentioned taking off their gas blocks and it would seat straight. I tried the seating without the gas block and it sits perfectly straight, but once I put it on and screw down the gas block, it goes back to being off to the left. Comparing the barrel set screw with the grub screw flat portion on the barrel, they aren't perfectly aligned; with the barrel set screw facing straight up, the flat porting is leaning left (I assume these should be aligned). So after a few days of screwing around and trying to get it aligned, I took it back to the store i bought it from, they in turn sent it back to wolverine. It came back a couple weeks after saying that the barrel set screw wasn't torqued to spec (250inch-lbs). I had tried both 200 and 250, but this never had resolved my issue, however when it came back, the barrel was aligned when I measured it. I take it to the range a few weeks later, shoot it a bit, maybe 20 cartridges through it, seems centred. I took it to the range again the other weekend, shoot it quite a bit and the shots are all landing about 30cm left at 50 yards, so I adjust the rear sight to compensate, then move to 100 yards, shots are now off to the left almost a metre, i adjust the rear sight almost completely to the right to compensate; this is now exactly back to how it was pre-service. I bring it home, the barrel is now again 1mm to the left. I measure with calipers, one side of the gas block on the barrel to the outer hand guard is 0.440, the other side has a depth of 0.481. I take it out and try reseating it, but cannot get it to align straight.

Now, I'd love to believe I'm messing something up, but I also have an XCL-L with a 5.56 and 7.62x39 barrel, its an older railed version too, and both of those barrels can be removed and re-seated and line up perfectly well every time; zero shift at 100 yards is maybe a couple inches at worst. But with this XCR-M, from perfectly aligned to its current state, it shifted over 1 metre left. I don't know what to do other than return it for repair again, I just don't want it coming back with the claim of barrel nut not torqued or something like that, when I know it was torqued. Does anyone else have an XCR-M with a barrel set screw and gas block grub screw cut out that are misaligned?

Happy to report this is all sorted and has been for some time. Turned out to be the gas block forcing the barrel out of alignment. Wolverine got it sorted pretty quick.

Good to hear. Dave at Wolverine is great. Love my XCR’s! My Gen 3 M w competition shroud is a great shooter.
