OK... I like the two rifles in principle but have only held the Kel-Tec once and only seen the XCR-M in pictures... Anyone has experience with either or both of these rifles??

I like the XCR-L so the .308 medium version should be OK... But I really liked the feel and handiness of the Kel-Tec...

Which should I buy?? (Or at least which should I buy first!!)

Having held or shot niether, and having been one of those crazy old guys to actually be issued an FN FAL by the Queen, please take my vote with an appropriate grain of salt.

That said, I hate bullpups - Goofy looking, and you lose the ability to make 'convincing' arguments with the butt stock.

Buddy of mine just got a Kel Tec Sub 9 (I think that's what it's called? 9mm folding carbine). Anyway, it is a plastic fantastic ergonomic nightmare, that I will be pleasantly surprised to see live beyond 1000 rounds, as bits are not really mating that well when brand new.

Your mileage may vary. I hear that the Robarms rifles require some locktite prior to use, so they ain't perfect, neither. I'd take an XCR-M, though.

Cheers,

Neal

I'd like a new FAL by DS Arms but our dumb gun laws won't allow it... The FAST stock on the XCR-M seems a bit frail for any serious argument but again, I only saw that gun on screens...

I find it strange that with all the XCRs and RFBs flying off the dealer's shelves, there is no serious reviews here on CGN!!

I purchased an XCR last summer and I am still breaking it in as I have barely 200 rounds pushed through the rifle. I got mine in 5.56 NATO and confirmed it with the head space measurement. Only complaint so far is that the damn thing is loud for a round that size. I have had no feeding/jam issues yet and no slam fires but mind you I have only 200 through it. I am happy that the wife is letting me keep all my toys as we have a new baby on the way (our first) but range time is seriously cut down. Maybe in a couple years I will have it broken in. Damn fine looking firearm and I am a picky individual.

The RFB and sub 2000 are very different beasts, I grew up on FN's as well. The RFB is pretty solid, the main question is does it fit you? Best to try and shoot both and decide which fits into your arms best.

from a machining perspective, the rfb is well designed.
from a combat perspective the rfb is well designed.

This rifle needs to be held and used to be appreciated. As has been said many times, it is not a light plastic rifle, it is super solid.

My only complaint is that you have to flip it to inspect the chamber as opposed to cant to the left. Not a big deal, just takes some getting used to.

held the xcr .223 22"

held the rfb

have not shot either yet

but by judging a brick by its mortar..rfb
