Hi fellas, so I went yesterday and bought a spankin' new XCR-M from my local shop. Today I took it out for it's first run. All I had to shoot was Fed. 150gr blue box. I loaded up both mags and was very excited to try out my new rifle.
I pulled back on the charging handle and let er' fly....FTF right off the bat.

I probably had about 25 FTF's over the course of 40 rounds. I was only able to empty 2 full mags trouble free. The mags are the 5 rounders that come with the rifle. They seem very "rattly" when loaded and the rounds will slide around inside the mag. I want to try some pmags and hopefully they will work better. I know all about the gas setting and break-in period and whatnot. I wasn't expecting for it to run completely flawlessy, but this seems pretty bad to me.

I think that part of my problem is the mags and the other part ammo. I am going to load up some 168 SMK's and try them out. Hopefully will be able to get my hands on some pmags soon.

Other than all that I really like the rifle. It recoils nicely and feels really solid, which I like.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Cheers, YC

for the FTF's, did the firing pin strike the round? if it where the mag it would be a feeding issue not a faliure for the round to go off, thats either the firing pin not hitting it, or the primer not igniting when struck, where there any FTE's?

Do you mean Fail to Fire or Fail to Feed… because I think you mean the later but I read it all as the former… And I think someone else did too…

You know that reminds me… I took an XCR-M mag apart and didn’t quite get the spring put back in right… caused feeding issues from follower tilt… took it back apart and centered the spring better and it seemed to work fine after…

if its a feeding issue it will be your mags for sure, when the mags empty does it come all the way up as far as possible? and do you have to apply noticable pressure to push it back down?

I emailed robarms about the mag that came with the xcrm, the steel mag that i had would scratch the hell out of the brass. Robarms response below.

As for the brass, the real problem is the 5 (actually 4) round mags. They compress too tight and cause the bolt to drag across the rounds. With a 20 round magazine, we have much less of this problem, but we cannot ship the 20 round magazines to Canada.

I switched to pmags and they are fine.

They can't ship the 20 round mags? I guess they don't know how to put in a rivet. My DPMS mags are 20 or 19 (Can't remember). So is the KAC mag that came with my LMT MWS. They can ship them just fine. Both of these mags work well. They will also work in your XCR-M. Then of course there are the Pmags. But if you want metal look at these other options

I have 6 c-product (i think they are same as dpms) mags that are 5/20 i picked up from the EE a while back that i need to try.

Huh? I am pretty sure the mag that comes with the XCR-M is a 20 pinned to 5.

The small mag comes with xcrm (10 rounds, limited to 5), the other mag is the 20 round i purchased from EE.

I had 4 PMags sitting around the house for about 5 months befor the M even rolled through the door. I've fired just about all of my break-in rounds and I've never once used that 5/10 steel mag..... that said... I have never once ever had a single FTF.... Not even close to an FTF.

I like the sound of this. Pmags are on the way. What type of ammo are you using mostly?
