XCR short barrel???

"only" may be too excessive but being NR is very significant. Can hunt with it, shoot outside of a range, no hassle of Restricted is huge. XCR sales would plummet if ARs were NR. I for one wouldn't went AR over XCR for the huge price diff.
...
Also, saying that non-res status is the "only" thing the XCR has over the AR-15 is a bit flippant. Same could be said for the Ar-180.

You are correct, it is a matter of personal opinion. I own two AR's (piston and DI) and XCR and an ACR, and the XCR is probably my favorite. If I had a shorter barrel, it would definitely be my favourite. I really don't care too much about Res/Non Res.

Again, a matter of personal choice.
