OK, my XCR in .223 arrived today so I'm in the club.:cool:

I'm 6'4" so the factory stock is way too short or me and my first order of business is to get an AR-type stock adaptor and a new stock. Problem is, I'm new to the black rifle scene and not too versed on what is out there for stocks. I'm looking for suggestions for a replacement stock that is suitable for a low mounted scope or maybe an EOTech. Some adjustment for the LOP (i.e. telescopic) would be great. Hit me with your suggestions... and don't forget to give hints on who sells 'em.:)
 
I am your height so I know your situation! I use a magpul CTR and really like it, shorten it for in and out of truck as XCR is my truck gun/deer rifle. When using it I have all the length of pull I need. Best of both worlds. Got my stock and adapter from Wolverine but a lot of dealers have them.
 
What about Robinson's new stock? It looks like an SCAR or ACR stock with an adjustable cheek riser, telescopic, and folds to the side.
 
anything is an improvement over that short factory stock.

I picked up a carbine set from questar for $60. Not as kool-aid but for the $ it does what it needs too.
 
OK... I've researched enough now to realize I have one more question. Once I have an AR stock adapter... do the magpul (or other brand) stocks come ready to install or do I need to buy a buffer tube as well (I think that is what they are called)? Thanks!
 
You need a buffer tube as well. Available from Questar in mil spec and expensive or cheap. Depends on how you want to roll.
 
I have both a OD green second gen higher mount NEA and a stock black Dlask adapter for my XCR-L I mounted a Magpul CTR stock.

I prefer the Dlask adapter = the NEA is for sale if someone wants it. :)
 
Hi guys just bought an XCR last week and being that I'm 6'6" The stock feels really short. Just wondering if you measure the difference between the factory length of pull and the length of pull with an AR stock adapter and collapsable stock installed is there much gain in length of pull? Do you get an extra inch? or two? any input would be great. Thanks
 
You will need the NEA stock adapter to get the extra length you need I am 6'3" and could only adjust out to the second lock of my CTR stock before it became to long.

I have an OD green NEA adapter for sale if and when I ever get around to posting it on the EE...
 
I think I'm all set up now. I've got the NEA stock adapter coming, as well as a Magpul ACS (mil-spec) in FDE. I just ordered a Vltor mil-spec buffer tube and lock ring from Alberta Tactical and also grabbed a Magpul MIAD grip and some Tango Down BG-4 rail grip covers in FDE (going to trim 'er all out in FDE).:D

About all I need now is a wrench for the lock nut and I'll all set (or is it possible to squeek by without one?).

Now that I am looking at black rifle stuff with a more critical eye (never owned one before) it's really too bad the XCR stock is set so far below the line of the barrel. It really messes up the lines of the gun and seems way too low for a goofd cheek weld with optics?
 
You can get by temporarily with out the stock wrench. Use a screw driver and small hammer to tighten. Careful not to mar the buffer tube threads. Not really recommended, but will work in a pinch until your castle nut wrench shows up (bought mine from Questar, $12 I think). Order a new nut as well.....

I just measured my nea with questars carbine package fully collapsed next to the factory. They both are roughly the same length (around 9 inches) like CC said, you will need only one or two clicks, but out is well worth it. ( I'm 6'4" with monkey arms)
