Cant decide between a new xcr or a tavor for a NR 556 gun. Any pros or cons to each. Want a good reliable gun that will take a beating, is reliable, and easy to clean/ take down in the field. Primarly will be used for run and gun stuff... smashing my steel idpa targets. Do the same thing at the range with my ars but now with the bans want something off grid. As far as optics most likely going to put a red dot or a 1x6 or 1x8 on it. Thoughts or opinions appreciated

I used to have an XCR-L comp model with the thin barrel and Keymod long handguard. Control layout was excellent, the latest XCRs are definitely more reliable and durable than the earlier builds. Wasn't a huge fan of the FAST stock but it was all right. If i could do it again, i'd probably opt for the regular length handguard to save a bit of weight. The rifle did get pretty heavy once it was fully dressed, but it ran just fine. I like that there's adjustability for the gas system, not so for the X95.

The X95 is a good rifle, and I'd pick one over the TAR-21. If compactness is a factor, that might be the way to go. Once either rifle is fully kitted out, I suspect they're pretty close in weight
