I have been planning to get an XCR 7.62x39 w/ keymod fore end and light weight barrel for a while, I already have some 10 round magazines and optics for it. But I am now considering a VZ-58 with an AR15 magwell adapter as I can buy one and tacticool it out for almost $1000 less than the XCR. My main concern is how well the AR15 magwell adapters work. Can anybody weigh in with their experiences?

There are two adapters. CSA's plastic version and Wolverine commissioned T&B (aluminum).

I purchased and installed T&B version a couple of years ago. Fit and function is perfect. Its a lot of fun running 10 rounds downrange at a time.
One gets use to the left hand button to drop the magazine. I'll be the first to admit I don't like the final look of the unit installed - but that is the price you pay for additional 5 rounds in your magazine.

If 10 round mags is the only factor, go with the VZ. If you want a more ergonomic gun that is easy to mount optics, go with the XCR.

If you don't mind restricted, get a. 7.62x39 AR. You can get into one for about the price of the VZ/adaptor combo and it easier to mount optics and is more ergonomic.

i think the csa plastic ones are terrible the adapter would fall out of the gun while firing. i would get the xcr. plus the xcr with the keymod stock and the pencil barrel is almost are nice to shoot as an ar.
