Well I gave the rear sight a few good smacks with a brass punch and it would not move. Is there any thing else holding it in place I can see in a pin hole on the bottom side of the front is that a weld hole? .... Any one have a sight removal tool I can borrow?

Snake,

I don't think there are any pins hold the sight in place. From my research to see what is needed to replace my front sights on my XDm, I found that the sights (primarily the front) are a major b!*#h to remove, seems the Coratian's really know how to put on a sight. Saw someone use an air hammer for a few minutes before it popped off. Others just used a dremel to cut it off. I still haven't done mine, but was thinking of taking it to a gunsmith to have it professionally done.

Good luck!

There is a fellow on the S&W forum in the US that sells a sight removal tool that is real heavy duty and he says it will remove those sights with ease. I bought his lighter duty one and it peeled off my Kimber and my high power fronts no problem.

I have removed sites from my XD9 a few years ago.. The way i did it was to put it in the -20° Freezer for 1 day... then quickly take it out and put it in vice and then use a hammer and drift and hammer it out. it worked for me.. I guess the reason this works is the metal of the slide and the sites are a bit different and this did work for me.

Good luck
