After being forced to take the RPAL in December to purchase this handgun to now, I have an XD45 at home. The easiest part was getting the ATT, took all of 5 minutes at the CFO. Now for the Black Badge, CDPA and lots of practise. Hope I don't get interested in 3 gun shoots.....Bob

Congrats and have fun!
You've picked youself a fine firearm. :dancingbanana:
Had the opportunity to fire cocked&locked's a couple of Sundays back and I loved it. First .45 auto I can actually say I enjoyed firing (and just to check, I shot a 1911 this past Saturday. Yup, XD45 all the way).
Good luck staying away from 3 gun shooots!! :runaway:

Sorry, I thought Black Badge was a requirement for any competition where you draw a loaded handgun from the holster. I see a steep learning curve up ahead....Bob

NP Bob, _dpa will recognize Black badge, but it is a course specificly designed for IPSC shooting and has a few minor differences I believe. That being said, I've played with taking it just for the fun of a day of orginized shooting with a bunch of like minded people. Any training can be useful. The CSSA is running a CDPA holster qualification course specificly aimed at the sport now, might be slightly more helpful if your going to shoot IDPA style as it goes into the rules and scoring of that game instead of ipsc. Heck, do em both if you've got the time and money!:D
