How does the winchester xpr stack up to the xbolt? Cabelas has the xpr on sale and I'm debating picking one up. Good buy or would you rather have a "used" NIB ss xbolt for $200 more (closer to $300 by the time I buy talleys)?

Xbolt is a better made rifle, XPR is more of a budget rifle the way it is made.
$200 difference I'd go for the SS Xbolt.

AB3 and XPR are both in the same category, same bolt/receiver made in Japan with minor cosmetic differences. Even between those 2 I would take the Browning as the XPR barrel is "Savage nutted" and "Tikka bedded", plus they use polymer mags that hold less rounds then the AB3.

Winchester is just the label they throw on low quality guns coming out of browning factory.

Browning is leaps and bounds above those piles of crap Winchester.

As many have said, the xbolt is well built, a bit more expensive.
The XPR is a budget level rifle, but I have 3 of them and they haven't let me down yet and are dead accurate with the right optic, wish they came with the option for iron sights haha

Xbolt is a better rifle for sure. XPR 's can be very accurate - my 6.5CM shoots lights out - but is has some obvious short cuts on it and it is heavier than an xbolt as well. My XPR benefitted from a glass bed job that I did on my own. I bought an XPR on spec as it was on sale and reviews were fairly good. XPR is a good starter gun I think but the xbolt is the better gun.

XPR is a budget grade rifle, but they can and mostly do shoot well. The X-bolt is a better-made firearm for sure.

Now, having said all that, you absolutely can do better than an X-bolt for the same amount of money.

Xpr and ab3 virtually identical(after all browning and win are in bed together these days) but the xpr does have a metal trigger group vs the plastic one in the ab3.
Xbolt is ahead of them both!

I just ordered the XPR sporter barreled version with wood stock and would also like a set of iron sights installed.
Probably going to be pricey, if I can find someone to do it

My opinion is that you should handle both before you buy either.
