XS Peep and Savage 99

I saw one today and was extremely impressed. Have they changed things recently? When looking on their site it looks like it requires a front base. That makes no sense and the one I saw wouldn't have needed one.

Is anyone an expert on these? Thanks.

Chuck,

You will not need a new front base. That is just what they have available, if you want their setup to accommodate the higher front sight you will need with the receiver sight. You can simply purchase a higher front sight blade for the 99, and be good to go.

The XS comes with a plastic front sight that you can use to determine what height you need. Just replace the front sight with the plastic one, go to the range, and sight in with by filing the plastic rod down until you have the impact you want.

Remove the plastic, measure its height, and purchase a new replacement blade that is closest to that height. Simple as ABC.

Yes, however you can also get the back up ghost ring sight that mounts directly to the base from them as well. That allows you to remove your scope, but leave the base on.

I have one of the Weaver base back up sight. It is a pretty slick rig, requires a fairly high front sight, and comes with the test post, same as the XS sight.
