As the title says, what are XTP bullets? I see some load data that is only for XTP bullets and there may not be a load listed for an FMJ!

Yes I know of Horady XTP bullets...are these the same bullets? And why are there so many loads listed specifically for them. I see lots of 9mm load data for them.

I assume you're getting these from the Lee reloading manual (or even Hodgdon's load website). That manual basically compiles published loads from various powder and bullet manufacturers, that's why there are so many recipes for XTPs specifically.

These loads sometimes differ from FMJ loads because, for bullets of the same weight, XTPs will be longer than FMJs to compensate for the cavity (same could be said of any hollow-point bullets). You can safely use loads for XTPs when loading FMJs, as long as you start low and work your way up.

Hornady XTP bullets are the Best !!! EXTREME TERMINAL PERFORMANCE I have two hundred 158 gr. 38/357 cal. and 300+ 250 gr. 45 cal. .452 pistol bullets that I don't have a gun for any more. Sold all my handguns. Maybe I should put a add in the parts for sale forum. I don't remember what I paid for them, But they were wicked accurate, Best I have seen. They are a jacketed hollow point !!!

Extreme Terminal Penetration actually. Great bullets.

I'v been using .32 cal 85 gr XTP in my .303B for a plinking load. Cheap to load and very little recoil. I won a 50 yd military shoot at our club with that load (40 gr H4895).

Just to be picky, I loaded 200 yesterday. The boxes say Extreme Terminal Penetration. I tried a picture but the print is too fine for my camera. Mine are for a magnum pistol though, may be some difference.
