gday fellas, you know the type that could be 1/2 moa, has a Number followed by a Hash half way then the next number.. like
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5......................... around the turret.

Do you think these types are 'good' enough to be able to repeat the Zero to close enough for fine tuning ?

say the marks for one load on Elevation is 2 , and Windage is 4...............
but with a Second load sighted in the Numbers are 3 and 5......... would it be reasonable to expect if I Wind my dials back to the Respective numbers, that the shot would be 'in the ball park' ??

I know it sounds sus.... actually the more I type it, the more Sus it sounds LOL

but do you think there can be some more margin for error with the slide, than the newer Click adjusts....

Thanks guys
WL

BTW- 2-7x33 gloss leupold.

Probably work OK. And you wouldn't ever be in the situation of a click being too much adjustment.
Let us know how it works for you.

yeah, ill do that when I get time, I have a big hunt for big deer on in a months time, so the lighter projectiles are out an Will be sighting the old load back in. I wrote down where the Zero was with the old load, an remembered to do so with the New light loads before I re adjust for the Heavys...
I'm hoping its "bang on" but thought I would ask incase the frictions are known to have more "play" in the adjustment, if ya get me

Shouldn't be a problem. It's not like you weren't going to sight in before the big hunt anyway.
Yeah copy that-

I Re sighted today...... for the 140gr Woodleighs.

To answer my Question... NO- the slide friction adjust ments are CLOSE but not exact to previous Zero, most likely because of a different Batch of reloads... my Windage is pretty good maybe 1/4 slide position. and Elevation is about 3/4 inch different.. Could just be a few things - in particular the Holding of the Lightweight gun..... recoil raising barrel etc... whatever but I will continue to keep an eye on the Elevation setting through the Season. currently printing around +1.5-2 at 100m, either or ither will do for max 300m shots on perfect day..

was a cool experiment, an where the newer Click adjusts have their Pros.

I take a sharpie and mark the spot on the numbered ring where my scope was last. I normally only bother when switching bullet weights. It gets me in the ballpark, but I would never trust it without confirming my zero, and it seems to need a little tweaking every time. The numbered ring is moveable too, so if it gets bumped you've lost your reference point.

that's a great idea, it doesn't seem my ring moves! so I could get away with that. without messing up the dials ive written the numbrs down an diagrammed the location in my reloading manual for future reference! much like you say, its for a ball park I guess, so as not to waste a dozen bullets... dial it in close then finalise!
happy days

I was changing weights also! from 120gr with the 139gr poi similar to use, an the 140gr Woodleigh throws them off a bit comparing.

Ahhhhhhhhh Laddie, one must lern Texas elevayshun and slight canting habits to compensate Mah Nature.

texas elevation = hold over ?

I can live with it .6 inch either left or right lol. an I spose I can live with it bein somewhere between 1.5-2.5 inch high ha ha
still backline Hold on a Deer out to 300 meters

Well if you went to a different reload (or maybe just changed the lot of powder or primers) then that would throw it off. Still, close is good. Besides, you're not using a friction-adjust Leupold to dial come-ups for a sniper shoot.

Now go kill something tasty and tell us all about it!
