Lookin at a used scope to buy for a decent price, its a fixed 4x Redfield. Seems to be a bit of a yellowish tint when looking thru it. What gives? Its an older scope probably 1970's, did Redfield tint the lenses back then or is this some kind of lense coating or is this a sign that the scope is damaged and leaks and fogs up when outside ?? Any body have any knowledge about this ???

lens coating can come in every colour from reds through to blue its mainly there to help with light transmition usually coated lenses saves around 2% light loss per lens. Its small green patches like spiderwebs you should watch out for that means you have fungal growth that cannot be repaired the fungus etches itself onto the glass that is the main reason for desiccating sights. As for the gas inside the sight I would seriously doubt it would be desiccated even the best sights will leak out after several years. As long as you don't subject a sight to very rapid temperature changes like putting it in a freezer for ten minutes then taking it out to a warm room it shouldn't fog up even the best sights will fog up from this if they have lost their desiccant gas.

I'd call Trace Scope Repair and ask them.
