I have a Glock 35 gen 3. I bought 2 new gen 4 magazines as extra magazines just make things easier...or so I thought. The new mags a spongy to insert and don't release cleanly. Is this just a break-in period issue or is there something funky going on? Your wisdom is appreciated!

I sold a Gen 3 Glock 21 recently and accidentally sent brand new Gen 4 mags with it. Turns out there's feeding issues of some kind. I'm going to find out more once back from Israel and will keep posted.

I have 10 gen4 Glock 40 cal mags and use them in my Gen 3's all the time, even in my 9's and have had zero issues

Even some standard glock mags don't drop freely...I've seen it in my buddies gun frequently.

Try coating with a gun cleaner like G96 and see if that makes a difference.

I run an extended mag catch on all my Glocks too, being able to depress the mag catch all the way in a little easier probably helps helps release the mags a little better

These are Glock Gen 4 mags which were bought after the original purchase Gen 3). The issues seem to be that a magazine either with a few or a full 10 rounds creates a spongy feeling when inserting. A good slap is required for it to seat. As for dumping the mag, it is 50/50 whether or not it will fall freely or need a bump to drop. In regard to the original mags, there have been no issues.

Does it have the Ambi mag release? Some of those are garbage. I had to send my glock 21sf to Police Ordnance and get a new frame, as i experience the same thing, and then the whole mag release fell out.
